Drug selection and evaluation is one of the basic activities carried out in a hospital. It is the specific remit of the pharmacy and therapeutics committees that have lately been established in virtually all Spanish hospitals.
The GÉNESIS workgroup (workgroup for the evaluation of new medicines, standartization and research into drug selection) was established as a workgroup under the auspices of the Spanish Society of Hospital Pharmacists (SEFH).
The basic principles of the GÉNESIS workgroup are independence, scientific rigor, transparency and the dissemination of information.
