Short-term goals

  • To map the current situation of the hospital pharmacist’s role in Spanish intensive care units.
  • To draw up a consensus document on the tasks performed by clinical pharmacists in the ICU.
  • To design a training project addressed to hospital pharmacists and intensivists with the support of the two relevant scientific societies (SEFH and SEMICYUC).
  • To support the participation of hospital pharmacists in the work of intensive care units.

Medium- and long-term priorities

  • To prepare a set of guidelines for the reconciliation of drugs in the critical care setting.
  • To support the implementation of the Board of Pharmacy Specialties’ critical care pharmacy certification program.
  • To prepare protocols and consensus documents on the most urgent priorities for our discipline: sedoanalgesia, cardiovascular, anti-infectious therapy, renal replacement techniques, intoxication, nutrition, pharmacokinetics, safe administration of medicines.
  • To develop training and research activities (together with other workgroups and scientific societies).
