  1. To gain an understanding of the needs of the different hospital pharmacy departments with respect to the medication simples used in clinical research.
  2. To serve as a communication forum for all hospital pharmacists fully or partially dedicated to clinical trials.
  3. To promote, support and participate in initiatives aimed at ensuring that pharmacists receive the training they required with respect to the different aspects involved in clinical trials: protocol evaluation, best practice guidelines, design and methodology, research ethics, etc.
  4. To promote the incorporation of new technologies to the management of investigational drugs.
  5. To develop consensus-based procedures for the management of investigational drugs so as to facilitate collaboration across different hospitals.
  6. To support SEFH in its relationship with the different stakeholders associated with clinical research (Spanish Medicines Agency, pharmaceutical companies that perform clinical trials, etc.) providing them with information on the problems commonly identified by the clinical trials workgroup members while handling or managing drug samples and on the difficulties encountered when implementing the procedures requested by the trial sponsors.
  7. To advocate for the inclusion of a dedicated pharmacist in all clinical trials.
  8. To promote the training of residents in the development of clinical trials.
  9. To raise awareness of the important role played by pharmacists specializing in clinical trials in clinical research.
  10.  To raise awareness of the important role played by pharmacists in the follow-up of clinical trials, irrespective of whether they serve in a hospital pharmacy or as members of an ethics committee.
  11.  To promote the implementation of quality assurance programs in the clinical trials section of hospital pharmacy departments.
